This photograph was taken for City Arts Magazine based here in Seattle. It is a portrait of artist Matthew Scott in his studio. Matthew is a veteran of Afghanistan. He was part of the first bombing campagin after Sept 11. When he returned and could not shake off his post-combat stress he turned to painting as a form of recovery. It was a great experience working with Matthew and getting to see and photograph his art. He was a great subject to work with, fun, laid back, always smiling. I am hoping to expand on this photograph with a series of portratis of Vets who use art for therapy. I will be working with the author of the article that this shot was used for KJ Doughton. So keep an eye out for that in the coming months.
